Huxley's novel, Brave New World, is a great science
fiction novel and a wonderful read for almost anyone
interested in the possible future and inevitable
destruction of our world. Even though some may
consider the novel controversial and even a bit
perverted, it is a good novel. Huxley's predictions in
this science fiction novel are astonishing. This is a
great read and I definitely recommend this novel for
mature people who have an appreciation for quality
science fiction novels.

Aldous Huxley's 1931 novel, Brave New World is a
fantastic read for those science fictions buffs that
enjoy a glance of the possible future of our world.
Though the novel does seem to start off rather slow,
the introduction chapter gives wonderful incite into
the way the way the society of the brave new world
functions. It also allows the reader to meet the
characters that carry us through the novel.

The society of the brave new world is founded on the
idea of "Community, Identity, and Stability."
Everyone in the brave new world is happy. This
happiness, however, is filled with mindless joy and
empty hearts. Huxley introduces this theme of false
happiness through his use of the drug soma. This
drug gives the user joy. Some people in the brave
new world go on permanent "soma holidays." I think
that Huxley's prediction of the use of drugs in the
future is shockingly accurate. Today's society is
overrun with addicts and abusers of illegal
substances.

A controversial point of the novel comes in at the
promiscuity promoted by the members of the brave
new world society. Scattered throughout the novel in
key locations, promiscuity is carried out. The people
who live in the brave new world think it abnormal of
anyone to practice monogamy. I also consider this a
key motif in the novel. It is disturbing how accurate
Huxley's prediction of the promiscuity in today's
society is.
